Is Peyton Manning preparing to become the next general manager of the Jets?
Don't ask his brother, Eli.
The Giants quarterback was quiet when asked if Peyton would be interested in pursuing the vacant position while speaking to reporters Monday after OTAs, saying he hasn't discussed the potential opportunity with Peyton.
“I don’t know,” Eli said, via Newsday. “I have not talked to him about that. I have no inside scoop on that.”
Eli did, however, appear open to welcoming his brother to take the football stage with him in New York.
“Obviously we play the Jets (in the regular season) this year, but in that sense I don’t know if there would be that much that overlapped,” Eli said. “I don’t think it would be strange.”
The Jets fired general manager Mike Maccagnan and vice president of player personnel Brian Heimerdinger in surprise moves last week and appointed coach Adam Gase as interim GM.
Peyton has ties with Gase, who coached with the Broncos from 2009-14, hinting the transition could be an easy one.
But the whole point could be moot considering SNY, citing an unidentified source, reported Peyton becoming the next Jets GM is "unrealistic."
