Last year's Shrine Bowl event saw 10 of its participants selected within the top 125 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, including Ravens receiver Zay Flowers and Rams defensive tackle Kobie Turner, among others. Some of the game's greatest success stories include 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who is headed to Super Bowl 58 next week.
The latest edition of the game did not disappoint, with standout performances from multiple players, including former Southern Miss running back Frank Gore Jr., former Tulane cornerback Jarius Monroe, and former Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, among others. Gore and Monroe won offensive and defensive MVP, respectively.
It was a dominant outing for the West team, which started hot with 17 points in the first two quarters thanks to a field goal and touchdowns from Gore and Tagovailoa.
The East was held to just one field goal from former Arkansas kicker Cam Little and would go on to score just one touchdown on a punt return by ex-Beaver Anthony Gold.
Despite the low-scoring effort from the East, at least a few players on both sides drove up their draft stocks considerably ahead of April's NFL Draft, though there were some unfortunate injuries that all players look to avoid in contests like these.
The Sporting News tracked live updates for the Shrine Bowl. Look below for the final score and updates you may have missed from the 2024 NFL Draft showcase.
East-West Shrine Bowl score
Team | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | F |
East | 3 | 0 | 8 | 0 | 11 |
West | 6 | 11 | 6 | 3 | 26 |
East-West Shrine Bowl final score, results from 2024 game
Final score: West 26, East 11
11 p.m.: Former Southern Miss RB Frank Gore Jr. is named MVP of the Shrine Bowl.
11 p.m.: Former Tulane CB Jarius Monroe is named defensive MVP of the Shrine Bowl.
10:54 p.m.: John Rhys Plumlee takes a knee to deliver the West team to a dominant victory.
10:53 p.m.: Memphis product Blake Watson totals nearly 100 scrimmage yards at the end of the game with a solid Shrine Bowl showing that should increase his draft stock. The running back totals 6 receptions and has looked versatile.
10:49 p.m.: UConn Huskies linebacker Jackson Mitchell goes down on the field with an apparent injury and walks to the sideline. Mitchell was a force for the Huskies defense, finishing out the 2023 season with 113 total tackles (56 solo), 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception.
10:43 p.m.: Cam Little's 48-yard field goal is good.
10:36 p.m.: Former Tulane CB Jarius Monroe picks off former WKU quarterback Austin Reed on an ill-advised throw. Monroe transferred to Tulane from Nicholls State, where he was an integral part of a secondary that once led the nation in passing defense. Monroe finished out 2023 with 48 combined tackles (35 solo), 10 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 1 sack.
Reed was an Air Raid quarterback who broke multiple records for passing yards as one of the best quarterbacks in WKU history, following on the heels of Bailey Zappe.
10:28 p.m.: Kedon Slovis connects with South Dakota State pass-catcher Zach Heins on a bobbled catch he manages to reel in. There are five Jackrabbits in this game, an impressive amount for an FCS school in an All-Star game.
West 23, East 11
10:16 p.m.: Furman tight end Mason Line walks off the field with trainers after an injury.
10:07 p.m.: Anthony Gould returns a punt for a touchdown, something he's no stranger to after he did several times for the Oregon State Beavers throughout his college career. The two-point conversion is successful. Gold should be expected to be a special teams ace at the next level.
9:47 p.m.: Former UCF quarterback John Rhys Plumlee takes it in himself for the touchdown and the two-point conversion. Two-point conversion is called back. Plumlee is a dual-sport athlete who retired from baseball and played both quarterback and wide receiver in college.
West 17, East 3
9:17 p.m.: The first half expires on a completion. Both teams head to the locker room as the West boasts a dominant two-score lead over the East.
9:11 p.m.: The East team continues to bring the pressure with Colorado State product Mohamed Kamara playing a large role.
9:01 p.m.: Cam Little's 26-yard attempt is good.
8:56 p.m.: Taulia Tagovailoa continues to showcase his mobility and ability to extend plays as he proves slippery for the defense to tackle with another first down run.
8:54 p.m.: Frank Gore Jr. breaks away for another big run as the East team defense leaves a huge gap open.
8:42 p.m.: Former Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa takes it in himself for the West team to extend their lead. The two-point conversion attempt is successful. Tagovailoa is the brother of Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The two are quite different, though, as Taulia projects as a powerful runner with some upside as a passer and Tua functions more so as a pure pocket passer with improvisation ability.
Taulia Tagovailoa keeps it himself on the bootleg for six. Proceeds to fire the ball into the concourse.

West 6, East 3
8:28 p.m.: The East team fails to capitalize on its progression, settling for a field goal.
8:26 p.m.: Colorado State tight end Dallin Holker helps move the chains for the East team, which has struggled to this point with quarterback Jack Plummer taking the snaps. Holker finished out the 2023 season with 64 receptions for 767 yards with 1 touchdown. The first quarter isn't done yet and Holker has already made some nice contested catches. That one was his third of the night.
8:22 p.m.: Former USC defender Solomon Byrd records the first sack of the evening, but it's nullified by a penalty.
8:14 p.m.: Former Southern Miss running back Frank Gore Jr., son of the legendary Frank Gore, records the first touchdown of the game as he showcases his footwork on a 49-yarder. Gore was a prime asset in helping the Golden Eagles' offense hum in 2023 when it was at its best. Gore has a smaller frame than his father but has him beat in the touchdown category as an emerging prospect.
8:12 p.m.: Quarterback Kedon Slovis takes the field first for the West team offense. Slovis flashed as a potential top future draft prospect while at USC, but faltered as he transferred to Pitt and BYU, where he would finish his college career. Slovis records the first completion of the game.
8:10 p.m.: UCLA linebacker Darius Muasau sets the tone for the West team defense as the East team is unable to make it past the line of scrimmage on the first play of the opening drive. Muasau could be a riser to watch.
8:08 p.m.: Cam Little is set to kick off for the West team as the East team will go to work first.
