The Philadelphia Eagles had the first round of the draft fall right into their laps on Thursday night.
After a run of quarterbacks and offensive weapons at the top of the draft, the Eagles were able to take the first cornerback off the board on Thursday night, selecting Quinyon Mitchell out of Toledo with the 22nd overall pick.

The pick was announced by Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata, who joined the broadcast from his native Australia.

With the pick the Eagles were able to immediately address a point of need on a defense that was looking for a reset. The Philadelphia defense struggled to get off the field on third down last year, and Mitchell provides an immediate plug-and-play talent to add to their defensive backfield.

The first round played out as well as Philadelphia could have hoped. Had their been a run on cornerbacks before their pick, the Eagles might have been compelled to trade up to grab one of the elite playmakers available in the 2024 class. Instead, Philadelphia was able to stand pat at No. 22 overall, and were the first team to take a corner off the board.
