Taco Charlton didn't stay without a team for long.
The Dolphins claimed the defensive end after he was released by the Cowboys, the team announced Thursday. In a corresponding move, Miami waived guard/tackle Bryan Witzmann.

Charlton, a first-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, was a healthy scratch with the Cowboys for the first two games of the season. Earlier this week he tweeted, "Free me."
The initial tweet was eventually deleted and Charlton later wrote: "Trust me the last thing I want to do is to have to go to social media to get what I want so I can play football again."

The Cowboys had worked to trade Charlton, but that didn't work out as they had to make a roster cut before 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday to activate Robert Quinn, who served a two-game suspension. Charlton reportedly made it clear during the offseason he wanted to be traded and he was part of Dallas' preseason cuts discussions, though the team opted not to move on from him then.
Dallas selected Charlton with the 28th overall pick out of Michigan, but he didn't live up to expectations in his first two seasons in the league. He hasn't had a sack since Week 2 of 2018 and has only four sacks in 27 appearances.
Charlton's first game with the Dolphins (0-2) ironically will be against the Cowboys (2-0) with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
