Calling the first joint practice between the New York Giants and Detroit Lions physical doesn't really do it justice. It was an all-out brawl.
Over the course of the morning, there were a ton of fights, with Kyle Meinke of MLive.com counting as many as eight. Even the most experienced beat writers couldn't believe just how heated things were throughout the session.
Unfortunately, that also left the Lions with some injuries. According to Justin Rogers of Detroit Football Network, guard Kevin Zeitler is being evaluated for a shoulder injury, while cornerback Terrion Arnold is being evaluated for a concussion.
There hasn't been an update on either as of this writing.
We don't know how Zeitler suffered his injury, but we do know how Arnold suffered his. The rookie cornerback got absolutely rocked on a run play by Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas. However, Arnold somehow managed to stay on his feet and tried playing through the block, which earned him a new level of respect.
Make sure you turn on the sound to get the full feel of just how big of a hit Arnold absorbed.
📢 You’ll want the sound up for this. 😱

You can feel the hit Giants LT Andrew Thomas puts on Lions rookie CB Terrion Arnold.
The kid stayed up, though. pic.twitter.com/0SpCPSNvGI
Us mere mortals would've ended up in a different galaxy had we taken that hit, and most NFL players would have ended up on the ground. Hats off to the rookie for standing up through that.
Arnold is expected to start on the boundary opposite Carlton Davis in his first year in the NFL. Meanwhile, Zeitler will man one of the guard spots as the Lions' only new starter upfront in 2024.
The Lions and Giants will have another joint practice on Tuesday, but they'll be hard-pressed to match how wild things were on Monday.
