The Detroit Lions are coming off one of the best seasons in franchise history after they made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game before losing to the San Francisco 49ers.
Making that loss even more heartbreaking was the fact that the Lions had a big lead going into halftime before ultimately blowing it. So, Detroit was actually 30 minutes from a Super Bowl.
After a season like that, Detroit has no shortage of hype surrounding it and the team has very realistic Super Bowl aspirations as it enters the 2024 campaign projected to be one of the best teams in the league.
Lions stud pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson, who is coming off another stellar season, is fully aware of the expectations and he believes they are definitely warranted. He also states that the team is very prepared to answer the bell.
"It's unreal. There's a lot of hype coming into this year, but I think it's well-deserved hype," Hutchinson told ESPN's Eric Woodyard. "I think a lot more guys on our team understand what this year is, and we understand what we got and we're all ready."
As focused on this year as he and his teammates are, Hutchinson realizes the Lions have the potential to build something special over multiple seasons.
"I think everyone has put everything into this upcoming year, and I feel like for the years to come as well, because it's not our last year we're all playing," Hutchinson said. "There's a lot of great players on this team, and I think we could just have repeated success over the next few years."
Hutchinson absolutely hits the nail on the head. Not only does this team have a great group of veterans to lead in the short term, the Lions also have a slew of impressive young players that can help this franchise be very good for years to come.
