The Detroit Lions have reportedly made a pair of significant additions to their staff, with the team hiring former Tennessee Titans area scout Tom Roth and former Las Vegas Raiders director of pro scouting, Dwayne Joseph.
The news comes from Neil Stratton, who did not have either Roth's or Joseph's exact roles. Tristen Kuhn of TWSN reports that Joseph is taking a "high level front office role" with Detroit.
After his brief NFL career, Joseph began working for the Chicago Bears, where he served as director of player development, assistant director of college scouting and assistant director of pro personnel.
He also worked with the Miami Dolphins as an assistant director of pro personnel and a regional scout before serving as the Philadelphia Eagles' director of pro personnel. Joseph was tabbed by Raiders general manager Tom Telesco as someone who could become a general manager eventually.
"It's comforting on our staff between JoJo (Wooden) and Dwayne Joseph and Champ Kelly, we have people that could be GMs somewhere, and most likely will be GMs at some point," Telesco said. "I need that help around me, I need those ideas from people like that."
Roth spent 14 years with the Buffalo Bills as a college scout. He has been with the Titans for the past six as an area scout.
