The Detroit Lions unveiled their three new uniform designs last week, and all three were well-received by fans and media, at least for the most part.
Whether positive or negative, the alternate combination no doubt created the most buzz, but the home and away uniforms were brilliantly done, and that includes the helmet, which features an awesome blue face mask.
After showing us the making of the alternate blue helmet, Riddell revealed the process behind the making of the default helmet. You can check that out below.

“The main thing is we wanted to honor our colors with a modern twist,” Lions president Rod Wood said about the new uniforms, according to MMQB's Albert Breer. “We’d tired of the gray jerseys. And with the home jerseys, we wanted to go back to the block white numbers. The current ones looked cool, too, but it was hard to see the numbers if you were sitting in the stadium. So this was a way to honor the past and make them better for the fans.”
It isn't a given that teams will nail their new uniforms — just ask the Denver Broncos — but the Lions did a fantastic job with theirs.
