When the Detroit Lions last took the field for an open practice of organized team activities, one player who was not present for the session was second-year tight end Sam LaPorta, although we didn't get a specific reason why he sat out.
However, none of that matters now, as LaPorta is back at practice for the Lions. The team released photos from its latest session of OTAs on Wednesday, which was not open to the media, and the Iowa product was pictured taking part.
LaPorta is coming off a monster rookie campaign in which he has already established himself as one of the better tight ends in the NFL, tallying 889 yards and 10 scores. He led all tight ends in touchdowns and had the fifth-most yards at the position.
You can check out some of the practice photos below, but the one showing LaPorta can be found on the Lions' official website.
hey, can you send me those pics from earlier? lol

Running back Zonovan Knight, linebacker Derrick Barnes and cornerback Terrion Arnold were all limited for last week's open session, but based on the photos, all of them looked to be a full-go.
Looking ahead to 2024, LaPorta stands to be the No. 2 option in the passing attack behind wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, but that will depend on how much wide receiver Jameson Williams can take a step forward.
Regardless, LaPorta should once again have some of the best numbers at the position in the NFL.
