The NFL has finished releasing its Top 100 Players of 2024 list that was voted on by players after the top 10 was revealed on Friday night, and the Detroit Lions officially have a total of five players making the cut this year.
Those five players are tight end Sam LaPorta, quarterback Jared Goff, defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and right tackle Penei Sewell.
Sewell lands at the highest spot among Lions players at No. 22 after not making the list last year, but St. Brown was right there behind him at No. 23, a whopping 44 spots higher than where he was in 2023.
Hutchinson cracks the list for the second straight year, going from No. 88 last year to No. 47 this year. Goff also made a significant climb up 18 spots to No. 48. Last but not least, LaPorta makes his debut at No. 80 after a sensational rookie season.
The most glaring Lions-related exclusion was no doubt center Frank Ragnow, who is one of the league's best centers, and quite possibly the best after the retirement of Philadelphia Eagles great Jason Kelce.
Ragnow has notched three Pro Bowl appearances in the last four years, including one nod in each of the last two. He was also a second-team All-Pro in 2023. Not being included in this list is simply inexcusable.
The top 10 of the list was not without some controversy, as Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill took the No. 1 spot. Last year's No. 1, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, fell to No. 4.
