The Detroit Lions have yet to officially unveil the jersey numbers their rookies will wear for the 2024 season, but one of them has let the cat out of the bag.
Lions sixth-round pick and guard, Christian Mahogany, has been one of the more notable players Detroit took in the 2024 NFL Draft, but it wasn't exactly because of his own doing.
General manager Brad Holmes brought attention to his rookie lineman with a legendary quote when talking about his toughness and play style.
"He's got some dirtbag in him," Holmes said. "He's one of these Jersey kids who doesn't take a lot of crap."
Recently, the Lions' "dirtbag" offensive lineman let us know what jersey number he's going to wear by tweeting out "73", which was his college number.

He then further confirmed the jersey number by sharing this post from "NFL Jersey Numbers" on X.

The last Lions player to don the No. 73 was guard Jonah Jackson, who left for the Los Angeles Rams in free agency this offseason.
Mahogany has fully embraced the "dirtbag" moniker, even changing his name on X to reflect Holmes' description.
Now, the Boston College product will focus on getting himself acclimated to the NFL. His first chance to do that will be during rookie minicamp, which starts on May 10.
