After three seasons, two of which have been particularly impressive, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is reportedly in line for a massive extension.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on SportsCenter (h/t Bleacher Report), Goff is expected to receive an extension that pays him anywhere between $45 to $50 million per season.

Fowler, who did not mention the length of the potential deal, added that there is mutual interest between the two sides to get it done, but there are still things that need to be worked out before it's completed.

"He wants to be there. Only 29 years old, due to make about $28 million this year, so he's going to have to be in that threshold of $45- maybe even $50 million a year based on the way he's played," Fowler said. "So, it's going to take some time to get that done."

The Lions' interest in extending Goff comes as no surprise after he has helped revive the franchise, leading to Detroit making its first NFC Championship Game appearance since 1991 during the 2023 campaign.

The Lions still have time to get something done with Goff, who will hit free agency in 2025. The projected average laid out by Fowler might seem gaudy, but the higher end would rank fifth among signal-callers, while the lower end would rank tied for seventh, according to Over the Cap.
