The Detroit Lions got their first look at second-year quarterback Hendon Hooker in live game action in the preseason opener on Thursday night against the New York Giants, but it looks like his night will end early due to a possible injury.
It isn't clear exactly what he's dealing with, but Hooker was spotted in the blue tent before leaving and going to the locker room. Concussion tests are done in there, but so are other medical evaluations.
Unfortunately, the Lions don't give in-game injury updates during the preseason, so we'll have to wait for news on him. Head coach Dan Campbell will likely give an update on the young quarterback after the game.

It's possible Hooker got injured on this run in the third quarter when he trucked a defender on an impressive 16-yard gain for a first down. If so, Hooker played on before ultimately exiting the game.

With Hooker out, Nate Sudfeld has re-entered the game.
Hooker had a solid performance in his debut, completing 5-of-9 passes for 36 yards while adding four carries for 34 yards. He looked decisive and poised in the pocket. We can only hope his injury isn't serious.
