The Detroit Lions have made a trio of roster moves ahead of their Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Rams.
The team announced on Saturday it has elevated wide receiver Tom Kennedy and defensive lineman Kyle Peko from the practice squad for Week 1. In addition, defensive lineman Chris Smith was signed to the active roster.
Kennedy was one of four wide receivers signed to the Lions' practice squad in the wake of the team making its 53-man roster cuts, but he certainly wasn't the most notable one.
Along with Kennedy, the Lions have veterans Donovan Peoples-Jones, Tim Patrick and Allen Robinson as options at wide receiver on the practice squad. Those three will have to wait another week to make their respective 2024 debuts, though.
Kennedy will provide some extra depth with the Lions currently having just four wide receivers on their 53-man roster in Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond and rookie Isaiah Williams.
Peko and Smith will provide extra depth options for the Lions with D.J. Reader uncertain to play. Reader turned in three limited sessions during practice this week and is listed as questionable for Sunday.
Head coach Dan Campbell has said there's a chance that Reader will play, but even if he does, he's likely going to have his snaps limited in his first game back after suffering a torn quadriceps injury last season.
The Lions and Rams will kick off from Ford Field on Sunday night.
