The Detroit Lions have now made two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, and both addressed their cornerbacks room. First, they took Terrion Arnold in Round 1, and now they've selected Ennis Rakestraw Jr. out of Missouri in Round 2.
And Brad Holmes lives up to his unpredictable nature once again, as the Lions were not expected to take another cornerback after trading their third-round pick the night before to move up for the Alabama product.
Nevertheless, the Lions' secondary just got even deeper and added a cornerback with inside/outside versatility. He can provide depth, both in the slot and on the boundary, and it's possible he becomes a starter at either spot down the road if Carlton Davis isn't re-signed or if Brian Branch is moved to safety.
Here are the best reactions following the selection of Rakestraw Jr.
This is the first time in the Common Draft Era the #Lions have taken a DB with each of their first 2 picks. https://t.co/P78xBqBAii

So the Lions have traded for Carlton Davis, signed Amik Robertson, re-signed Emmanuel Moseley and Kindle Vildor, then drafted Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw in Rounds 1-2

I have no issue with it at all. Keep bringing good football players to play in Detroit. #OnePride
