The Detroit Lions have a supremely talented roster that is capable of winning a Super Bowl in 2024, but who are the team's three-best players entering the upcoming campaign?
Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema took a crack at naming them for the Lions, and he picked wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, right tackle Penei Sewell and edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson.
Here's what he had to say about those three:
Amon-Ra St. Brown earned an elite receiving grade for the second straight season. Meanwhile, Penei Sewell took a massive leap from an 82.3 overall grade in 2022 to a 93.5 mark in 2023. Aidan Hutchinson also ascended to the elite level, generating a 91.4 pass-rush grade thanks to his 121 quarterback pressures.
Hard to argue with any of those picks. St. Brown and Sewell have become two of the better players at their positions in the NFL (and are now being paid as such), and the argument can certainly be made for Sewell to be the best.
Hutchinson has made a major impact over his first two seasons in the NFL, with the Michigan product tallying a whopping 21 sacks in that span, including a career-best 11.5 in 2023 that netted him his first Pro Bowl nod. It won't be long before we talk about Hutchinson as one of the best pass-rushers in the entire league.
Those three would be my personal picks for the Lions. Others who are in the convo include tight end Sam LaPorta, who emerged as a star during his rookie campaign, and offensive linemen Frank Ragnow has been an elite center for years now.
