Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is one of the best play-callers in the NFL after the Detroit Lions have sported one of the league's elite offenses over the past two years.
And that was confirmed by Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Bobby Babich, who said on an episode of the "Centered on Buffalo Podcast" that Johnson's offense is the most difficult to prepare for.
“It’s funny, we were just having this conversation today, I think Detroit does a great job — and this was from years ago — they do a lot of things and they do them well, which is hard to do,” Babich said. “That’s hard to do, and it’s hard to prepare for.”
Babich will actually have to prepare for Johnson and the Lions in his first season as the defensive coordinator of the Bills. Detroit and Buffalo meet in Week 15 at Ford Field.
Typically when an offensive coordinator has the kind of success Johnson has, he does not stick around long. However, Johnson shockingly has not landed a head-coaching gig, which has been great news for the Lions.
But it's a matter of when, not if, for Johnson, who will almost certainly be taking interviews again in next year's hiring cycle.
