After an initial report said the 2024 schedules for the Detroit Lions and the rest of the NFL would be released this week, it turns out that is not the case — but we do now have the date, per a new report.
According to Ben Fischer of the Sports Business Journal, the league sent out a memo to teams on Tuesday saying that the schedules would be released on Wednesday, May 15, at 8 p.m. ET.
Fischer adds that the initial expectation among teams was that the slate would be released this week. It isn't clear what was behind the delay.
While we don't have the exact schedule yet, we do know who the Lions will face in 2024. Here's a reminder of their opponents:
Home opponents: Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Away opponents: Packers, Vikings, Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys.
NEWS: The full @NFL schedule is currently slated to be released at 8pm ET on May 15, per memo to teams this afternoon from exec Hans Schroeder.

Teams had been expecting this week, Thursday. Reason for delay not mentioned in memo.
According to Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis, the Lions have the 12th-toughest strength of schedule in the NFL. Sharp calculates that based on projected win totals from Vegas oddsmakers.
