With the 2024 NFL Draft rapidly approaching, one analyst is giving his take on who the ideal picks are for the Detroit Lions with their first two selections.

According to Chad Reuter of NFL.com, those selections are Missouri edge rusher Darius Robinson in the first round and Iowa State cornerback T.J. Tampa in the second.

Here's Reuter's thoughts on those choices:

Even at 285 pounds, Robinson showed he could stand up on the edge in his final year at Missouri. Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport could use a young apprentice, especially since Davenport is coming off a season-ending injury. The release of Cam Sutton leaves the Lions in need of a cornerback, and Tampa's size and hard-hitting style should be appreciated by head coach Dan Campbell and defensive coordinator and former NFL star corner Aaron Glenn.

Based on their needs, both picks make sense for the Lions. Not only does Detroit need to provide more help and a long-term solution on the edge across from Aidan Hutchinson, the team also needs more depth in the cornerbacks room and another candidate to start opposite Carlton Davis.

Detroit has been doing a lot of homework on cornerbacks in this draft, with seven of the team's 11 known 30 visits being at the position. It wouldn't be at all shocking if the Lions opt for one with their first-round pick.

Other positions that we could see the Lions address over the first two days include safety, offensive tackle, guard, defensive tackle and wide receiver.

And, really, just about anything is on the table when it comes to general manager Brad Holmes, who has proven unpredictable during his first three drafts.
