Heading into the 2024 NFL season, the Houston Texans are a dark-horse Super Bowl contender and one of the teams nobody will want to face in the playoffs. Houston is also likely to be a heavyweight for a long time to come - or at least as long as any projections in this league are worth. They have the most talent in the league under the age of 25, including a fresh franchise quarterback who's only 22. They also have a rare first-year success head coach who's only 39.
The remarkable early success of C.J. Stroud and DeMeco Ryans brings to mind the run of the early Rams teams under Sean McVay and Jared Goff (who Stroud is far superior to now than he was then). They made the Super Bowl in just McVay's second season at the helm.
No matter how it shakes out, the Texans have put together something special here. Watch Ryans on the sidelines talking about the rare opportunity they have.
