It took 18 carries and a slightly beat up ankle Sunday for DeMarco Murray to reach 100 yards and history.

On the first play of the fourth quarter against the Giants, the Cowboys running back needed one yard.

He got it.

Murray took a handoff from Tony Romo, went to his right and was tackled one yard later, making him the first running back in NFL history to start a season with seven 100-yard rushing games.

Murray, in his fourth year in the league after being drafted by Dallas as the 71st pick of the 2011 Draft out of Oklahoma, broke a record held by Jim Brown since 1958.

One drive later, Murray needed another 1-yard run to get his seventh touchdown run of the year and to put the Cowboys up 28-14.
