A Manhattan apartment owned by Venus and Serena Williams apparently passed inspection from Ted Wells.

The Deflategate investigator and his wife purchased the tennis stars' little-used Garment District flat for $2.1 million, the New York Daily News reported.

Wells, 65, works at the New York law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. Before he gained wider notoriety as author of the NFL's report on the Patriots PSI scandal, he investigated the Richie Incognito bullying scandal for the league.

According to property records, Venus and Serena paid $1,335,000 for the 1,800-square-foot unit at 28 W. 38th St. in May 2005, but the Daily News says they might not have used it. Real estate listings said the apartment has wall-to-wall windows and oak floors, adding that the one-bedroom space apparently could be converted to provide more bedrooms.

Wells' wife, Nina, also a lawyer, is a former secretary of state in New Jersey.
