Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams has been one of the NFL's most dynamic quarterback-wide receiver pairings. And if Rodgers decides to leave Green Bay, or retire, there's a chance Adams departs from the Packers too.
During his Wednesday press conference, Adams said that while it isn't a guarantee that if Rodgers leaves, he will leave, but he said that Rodgers' future will impact his decision.
"Why wouldn't it? I'm playing with the best quarterback to play the game," Adams said. "There's nothing other than me just having a connection I've built up with my guy and playing a certain way. So there's that expectation, there's that friendship built up. There's a lot that goes into it. Obviously to a certain extent, it won't be the end all, be all, but it'll definitely be something that I'm monitoring and paying attention to to see where he's at after all of this."

The question to Adams was brought up after Rodgers was asked about his future by ESPN's Jason Wilde, with Rodgers responding that he wouldn't rule out retirement, and that his decision in the offseason will require taking into account a number of different factors.
The latest drama surrounding Rodgers' potential future comes months after he made the decision to return following an extended offseason holdout. Rodgers returned after rumors that he might leave, receiving a restructured contract in the process and securing a larger voice in making organizational decisions. One such decision he made was to request the team trade for former top target Randall Cobb, which the team accomplished.

While Rodgers and the Packers agreed to a restructured deal, his future in Green Bay is anything but guaranteed. He reportedly can request and be granted a trade in the offseason to leave the team. The team also might cut him to save cap space as the team would have a cap hit of $46.1 million in 2022 if he stays, and only $26.8 if he is cut or traded.
Which all brings the conversation back to Adams. The star wide receiver was tied to Rodgers throughout the offseason, with the pair referencing Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in dual "The Last Dance" posts on Instagram. Adams is a free agent after the 2021 season.

The loss of the duo would of course be a major blow. Since 2018, no quarterback-receiver duo has more passing yards than Rodgers to Adams at 5,077. This season, Adams is third in the NFL with 1,362 receiving yards. The next closest Packer is Marquez Valdes-Scandling, who ranks 97th with 427 yards.
"I've been in four NFC championship games, and it's a new team every year, so at this point, I'm just trying to enjoy it and just go play football, and kind of like what Aaron said, just savor these moments because you never know what will happen," Adams said. "I love being a Packer and love being here. So we'll see how everything plays out. But to a certain extent, I will be connected to 12, but it's not like if he goes, I'm not going to be here, or if he stays, I will. But something that we will have to pay attention to for sure."
