The Packers are "optimistic" wide receiver Davante Adams will return for Week 9's matchup against the Chargers.
Adams, who has been sidelined since Sept. 26 with turf toe, will work out before the game as a test, according to NFL Network, which cited unidentified sources. The report notes the Packers "are planning as if Adams will be back."
The #Packers head into Sunday with optimism that star WR Davante Adams (toe) can return to the field, sources say. They’ll likely put him through a workout to test it, but they are planning as if Adams will be back for the first time since Sept. 26.

Adams, who is officially listed as questionable, injured his toe in the fourth quarter of the Packers' Week 4 loss to the Eagles. He watched the end of the game from the sideline in what he described as "a little bit of pain." He has missed the past four games.
“We’re all anxiously awaiting that. And I think everybody will know about 90 minutes before kickoff,” coach Matt LaFleur said earlier this week (per Wisconsin State Journal). “But, in all seriousness, he has made progress. But again, we’re going to take it day to day with him. So, we’ll see."
Adams said last week the most challenging part of the rehab process has been pushing off on his right foot.
“When you tear the ligament,” he said (per The Athletic), “it’s not about toughing it out. Your toe doesn’t respond the same way. If you push off and it bites or you have sharp pain, you can’t really fight through that type of feeling, so just trying to do what I can day by day to get right back and try to get it back as close to how it was before.”
Adams, selected in the second round of the 2014 draft, was Rodgers' top target before the injury with 25 receptions for 378 yards through the first four games this season.
The Packers (7-1) travel to Los Angeles to face the Chargers (3-5) with kickoff set for 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday.
