Dak Prescott will remain the Cowboys' starting quarterback after this week's bye, and Tony Romo may not be ready to compete for the job until after their Week 9 matchup against the Browns, according to NFL.com.
After a Week 1 loss to the Giants, Prescott has led the Cowboys to five straight wins. He has only thrown one interception all season, leaving many to believe he should remain the starter even after Romo is healthy enough to return.

At the very least, Dallas can be patient with Romo after he suffered a fractured bone in his back during the preseason. The Cowboys will not make a final decision on Romo's playing status until they need to.
Prescott has been helped by sensational rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott and a tremendous offensive line. But his ability to read a defense and make plays with his feet has eased the loss of Romo and star wide receiver Dez Bryant.
Owner Jerry Jones has stood behind Romo thus far, claiming he is his starting quarterback, but fans may revolt if Prescott sees the bench if he's 7-1 when Romo returns.
