The Redskins head to Dallas in Week 12 to take on the Cowboys, who continue their longstanding tradition of playing on Thanksgiving.
Washington quarterback Alex Smith is out for the year after breaking his tibia and fibula while going down on a sack in Washington's Week 11 loss to the Texans. Smith's injury happened exactly 33 years to the day after the Redskins lost quarterback Joe Theismann to a famously gruesome broken leg.

Former Texas Longhorns star Colt McCoy filled in for the injured Smith against the Texans and will be the Redskins starter moving forward.
The Cowboys, meanwhile, are coming off a 22-19 victory over the Falcons, their second in a row to move to .500 on the season. Ezekiel Elloitt leads the team on the ground with 953 yards rushing. Quarterback Dak Prescott has thrown for 2,138 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions.
The Redskins (6-4) enter in first place in the NFC East, but the surging Cowboys (5-5) are the hottest team in the division. They're Washington's biggest threat, especially with Smith out for the year. This is the second meeting of the year between the teams, with the Redskins winning 20-17 when they played in Week 7.
The Cowboys and Redskins have played head to head eight times on Thanksgiving, with Dallas winning seven of those matchups. The Cowboys' only Thanksgiving loss to the Redskins came in 2012.
