Cowboys coach Jason Garrett sent defensive linemen Antwaun Woods and Trysten Hill home early Tuesday after both players showed up late for a meeting, leaving at least one "pissed."
“I was late, and it won’t happen again,” Woods said (per The Dallas Morning News). “I’m never late. I’ve probably been late one time in four years of being in the NFL, one time in five years of college.
"I was pissed. I was pissed at the fact that I got sent home. In my world, where I coming from of being cut before, (my mindset is) if my team is working, I need to be working. I was pissed about that, but at the end of the day, I messed up, and it won’t happen again. I respect coach Garrett for it. Everyone needs to be held accountable.”
Hill, on the other hand, declined to comment when asked by reporters during Wednesday’s media locker room session.
The Cowboys had an off day Wednesday and Woods and Hill returned to practice Thursday. The issue seems to be resolved, the Morning News notes, and both players are expected to resume their normal roles Monday when the Cowboys face the Giants.
Woods is expected to start, while Hill will likely be a healthy scratch.
Woods, who went undrafted out of USC in 2016, had been waived several times by the Titans before joining the Cowboys for the 2018 season. He's started four games this year, earning four combined tackles.
Hill, a second-round pick out of the 2019 draft, hasn't lived up to expectations this season. USA Today notes coaches have "expressed disappointment with Hill," including defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli who said Hill's "got to go" after the rookie left practice early with hydration issues.
Dallas (4-3) will travel to New York to face the Giants (2-6) on Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET.
