The game was close for most of the evening, but there wasn't really much to get excited about on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 8.
The Eagles won by a comfortable 23-9 over the NFC East rival Cowboys, but the victory mostly came down to Philadelphia being slightly less incompetent on offense than Dallas.
Carson Wentz did just enough to outperform third-string rookie Ben DiNucci, completing 15 of 27 passes for 123 yards (4.6 yards per attempt) and two touchdowns. Wentz also threw two interceptions and lost a pair of fumbles.
DiNucci looked serviceable at times but just couldn't lead the Dallas offense into the end zone, completing 21 of 40 passes for 180 yards (4.5 yards per attempt). Still, Dallas managed to take a 9-7 lead into the halftime locker room thanks to three field goals from Greg Zuerlein (49, 49 and 59 yards).
DiNucci also lost a pair of fumbles, with the second being recovered by Rodney McLeod and returned 57 yards for a touchdown, giving the Eagles a 21-9 lead with 5:18 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The one offensive player who managed to stand out for either team was Travis Fulgham, who hauled in six catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. The TD and subsequent 2-point conversion gave Philadelphia a 15-9 lead with 1:54 remaining in the third quarter.
The win moves the Eagles (3-4-1) to first in the NFC East, while the Cowboys (2-6) fall to third, 1.5 games behind Philadelphia.
