The Indianapolis Colts are set to host the Arizona Cardinals for a preseason Week 2 matchup on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium.
After the two teams came together for some solid work in joint training camp practices, Colts head coach Shane Steichen revealed his decision on whether the starters would play Saturday night.
That decision is one that most expected, especially after the practice on Thursday in the elements.
“Yeah, I'm not going to play the starters. They got the bulk of their work in these last two days," Steichen said. "So, the twos and threes will go and then I'll make a decision for Cincinnati for the starters.”
Steichen also mentioned that veteran quarterback Joe Flacco will get the day off as well.
That means the Colts will be trotting out a trio of quarterbacks that include Sam Ehlinger as well as two undrafted rookies — Kedon Slovis and Jason Bean.
It was expected that Anthony Richardson was going to sit during this preseason game following the joint practices. General manager Chris Ballard essentially said as much earlier in the week.
Ballard did say, though, that the Colts starters could play an entire half during the preseason finale against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday, Aug. 22.
The Colts and Cardinals are set for a 7:00 p.m. ET kickoff at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday night.
