Reaction to Colin Kaepernick's protest during the national anthem continues to be a polarizing subject.
Many players support Kaepernick's right to express his feelings about race in America by not standing during the national anthem, but a former teammate says it's "shameful" and he would have confronted the 49ers quarterback.

"... We probably would have had a problem on the sideline," said Vikings guard Alex Boone, who played with Kaepernick for five seasons.
According to ESPN, Boone's brother served with the Marines in Iraq.
"You should have some f---ing respect for people who served, especially people that lost their life to protect our freedom," Alex Boone said. "We're out here playing a game, making millions of dollars. People are losing their life, and you don't have the common courtesy to do that. That just drove me nuts.
"Anquan [Boldin] said it this morning [that Kaepernick had the right to protest], and I was kind of mad that he said it, because I was like, 'God, if Anquan says it, I've got to go with it,' because Anquan was such a leader, and he's a smart guy. He gets it. But at the same time, I was upset with [Kaepernick's] choice to do that and kind of disrespect the flag."

Boldin, another former 49er who now plays for the Lions, supported Kaepernick's protest as a right afforded to every American.
