Browns draft picks 2020: Who did Cleveland take? Full list of NFL Draft selections image

The Browns are coming off a disappointing year in 2019 after failing to live up to the offseason hype. But with the additions they made in the 2020 NFL Draft, it might just be enough to help them break out this season.

All five of the needs Sporting News had laid out for Cleveland ahead of the draft were addressed. In the first round, the Browns took Alabama left tackle Jedrick Wills, who will replace Greg Robinson. They then found a steal in the second round with LSU safety Grant Delpit, who many projected as a first-round talent. In the third round, they bolstered their defensive front with with Missouri DT Jordan Elliott and LSU LB Jacob Phillips.

In the back half of the draft, Cleveland took Mackey Award-winner Harrison Bryant (Florida Atlantic) as a new tight end for Baker Mayfield, Nick Harris (Washington) to bolster depth at center and Donovan Peoples-Jones (Michigan) to hopefully become the No. 3 receiver behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry.

Browns NFL Draft needs

  • Offensive line: The Browns' line was horrendous last year. Signing Jack Conklin for the right side is a great start and drafting a left tackle in the first round should be the next move.
  • Safety: Cleveland brought in two free agents on one-year deals, Andrew Sendejo and Karl Joseph. They could fill the gap, but the Browns would be wise to find a long-term solution in the draft.
  • Defensive line:  Myles Garrett is great and the rest of the starters on the defensive line are strong. Depth is the issue.
  • Linebacker: Mack Wilson, a 2019 fifth-round pick, has eased the severity of the need, but are the Browns comfortable pairing him with another second-year player, Sione Takitaki? If Isaiah Simmons were to fall to No. 10, then it would he tough for Cleveland to pass on him.
  • Wide Receiver: Yes, OBJ and Jarvis Landry are still in town, but it's slim pickings after that. The depth of this year's receiver class could provide a more reliable No. 3 option.
