Seahawks coach Pete Carroll fears Chris Carson is out for the remainder of the season after the team suffered running back misery in a 27-13 defeat to the Cardinals.
Carson hurt his hip in the second quarter of Sunday's contest, while C.J. Prosise — who stepped up after Rashaad Penny's season-ending injury in Week 14 _ sustained a broken arm in a further blow for the Seahawks. It means depleted Seattle have just one fit running back in the form of rookie Travis Homer for next week's showdown with their rivals, the San Francisco 49ers.
The loss of Carson will be particularly keenly felt given he has rushed for a career-high 1,230 yards this season and, while it is not yet definitive, Carroll is not optimistic he will feature in the postseason.
"We did get both our running backs banged up," Carroll said. "Chris and C.J. both got hurt. They're out, so we've got to get to scrambling. Johnny [GM John Schneider] has got to get to work and figure out what we're doing next.
"That was a lot of game for Homer to have to play by himself, so obviously we'll make some moves here and figure some stuff out."

Pressed on Carson's injury, Carroll said it was similar to one that ended Lano Hill's campaign toward the end of last season.
"He did something to his hip. It's a similar injury to what Lano Hill had. He's getting his tests right now," he added.
"I don't have that definitely [confirmation he is out for the season] but our docs are telling us that, yes. It looks like that. We'll get the final tests back tomorrow [Monday]."
The Cardinals sustained an injury concern of their own after starting quarterback Kyler Murray went off in the third quarter with a hamstring problem.
It leaves Murray a doubt for the Cards' trip to the Los Angeles Rams next week.
"I can't tell just yet, we'll look at it [Monday]," head coach Kliff Kingsbury told Arizona sports radio station 98.7 FM. "We just wanted to make sure if he's out there he can play at the level he can play at and we didn't want to put him in harm's way."
