Chiefs vs. Ravens on Sunday, a game scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET on CBS, presents a rare case in which one of the early Sunday games is considered by many to be the NFL game of the week. For that, CBS can thank quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson.
In the Super Bowl era, only two players over the first two games of a season have started with at least seven touchdown passes, no interceptions and a completion percentage of 70 or higher. Those two players, Mahomes and Jackson, will meet at Arrowhead Stadium this week for the second time in two seasons.
Week 3 NFL PICKS:
Against the spread | Straight-up picks
Jackson's record-breaking start in 2019 is noteworthy, but it's Mahomes who has a chance to write more history Sunday. The Kansas City passer will play his 20th NFL game; no player has ever had more passing yards (6,202) or passing touchdowns (57), or a higher passer rating (114.5, minimum 100 attempts) over his first 20 games, and Mahomes has established those marks in just 19 contests. With 300 yards this week, he can break Kurt Warner's mark of the most 300-yard passing games over a player’s first 20 games.
Kansas City beat Baltimore 27-24 when these teams met at Arrowhead last season, but they don't play each other often; the Chiefs lead the all-time series 5-3.
