The Chiefs made it to Foxboro ahead of their Week 14 showdown with the Patriots — but some of their equipment did not.
A container of bags holding the shoulder pads and helmets for roughly 35 Kansas City players was not unloaded from the team’s plane on Saturday and was accidentally sent to Newark, N.J., per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The equipment was rushed back to Boston and arrived about two hours ahead of Sunday's 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff against New England.

If the equipment had not arrived by the time the game started, the Chiefs would have had to forfeit, according to Schefter.

The bags were given a police escort to make sure they arrived in time for kickoff.
As much as we wouldn’t mind a forfeit for #PatsNation 🏈, but we did escort the delayed @Chiefs equipment from Logan to Foxboro. Game time can go as scheduled. #GoPats @Patriots @GilletteStadium @MikeReiss

Needless to say, Twitter had plenty of jokes about the blunder:
