Some Chiefs didn't get their ideal beauty sleep overnight Saturday into Sunday.
According to Fox's Jay Glazer, Kansas City received word at 3:30 a.m. ET that its latest batch of COVID-19 tests had returned seven positives among coaches and staff. That news shifted the Chiefs into action to follow the NFL's coronavirus protocols, which eventually determined that all seven tests were false positives.
The altered sleep schedules for some of the Chiefs (10-1) come at the start of a long day which will conclude on Sunday Night Football with a game in Arrowhead Stadium against the Broncos (4-7) that starts at 8:20 p.m. ET.

According to Glazer, what followed after the test results was a five hour process. It included figuring out contact tracing, waking up those who had tested positive to re-test them and waiting to hear back that the original tests were indeed false positives. Although no players had tested positive, some were involved in contact tracing, according to Glazer.
The false positives were all due to an issue at the testing laboratory, per Glazer.
False positives haven't been a major issue during the NFL season, although there was a false positive incident during the preseason that returned 77 tests as mistakenly positive. Kansas City's most recent activity with the COVID-19/reserve list came in November, when Mecole Hardman and three offensive linemen were placed on the list.
The Week 13 schedule has already featured two games moved due to a COVID-19 outbreak with the Ravens in late November, the ripple effects of which have Pittsburgh playing Washington on Monday instead of Sunday and Baltimore facing Dallas on Tuesday instead of last Thursday. But the Chiefs won't be adding to those alterations.
If the seven tests had indeed been verified positive for coaches and staff members, the Chiefs likely would've been missing players for Sunday Night Football due to the contact tracing Glazer said included players. Instead, Kansas City won't be missing any players against the Broncos — just maybe a bit short on sleep.
