The Chiefs and the NFL world received some good news Friday afternoon.

Defensive end B.J. Thompson, who was hospitalized Thursday after a seizure and went into cardiac arrest during a team meeting, is awake and responsive, his agent told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The Chiefs canceled team activities Thursday after the medical emergency.

Thompson, the Chiefs fifth-round pick in 2023, suffered the seizure during a special teams meeting Thursday morning and went into cardiac arrest. Chiefs head trainer Rick Burkholder later told reporters that kicker Harrison Butker ran to grab team trainers Julie Frymeyer and David Glover after Thompson started going into cardiac arrest.

He remained in stable condition soon after being admitted but was still unconscious Friday morning. But the news this afternoon indicates Thompson is on the mend following the traumatic experience.
