Chiefs 2024 NFL mock draft roundup: KC trades, picks and rumors image

It's not easy to own the final pick of the first round of the NFL Draft.

The Chiefs have been in this position before with middling success after KC took Felix Anudike-Uzomah in 2023 and Clyde Edwards-Helaire in 2020. Both remain works in progress despite their draft pedigree.

So with the No. 32 pick in the 2024 draft, the Chiefs could go in a few directions. And draft experts are split on what the Chiefs should do as well. Kansas City has a few big needs at wide receiver, cornerback and offensive tackle — positions that are deep in this class and where talent could drop to the Chiefs with the final pick of the first round.

Chiefs' biggest draft needs

The Chiefs want to be the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. KC will have another great shot so long as Patrick Mahomes is under center and Andy Reid is on the sidelines, but that doesn't mean the Chiefs don't have needs that need to be filled.

Here are the Chiefs' biggest draft needs:

  • Cornerback: The Chiefs lost one of the best cornerbacks in the league after trading away L'Jarius Sneed and need to either replace him or find more depth in the draft.
  • Left tackle: The revolving door at this position moved again with Donovan Smith still sitting there in free agency.
  • Wide receiver: Marquise Brown is a good addition and Rashee Rice (barring the results of his legal issues) proved to be a quality pass-catcher. But that doesn't mean the Chiefs shouldn't add to that position group.
  • Running back: The Chiefs looked at J.K. Dobbins before bringing back Edwards-Helaire but still don't have quality depth behind Isiah Pacheco.
