Week 10 of the 2021 NFL season is shaping up to be a big one for Carson Wentz. He has a chance to lead the Colts back to a .500 record against the Jaguars, and off the field he's preparing to celebrate a big milestone.
Wentz and his wife, Madison, are expecting the birth of their second child. They already have one daughter, Hadley, and are expecting another girl. The baby could arrive at any moment.
"I could get a call at any point here,” Wentz told reporters, per The Indianapolis Star. "We're excited. We're excited as a family."

This news may make Colts fans a bit nervous about Wentz's status for the team's Sunday afternoon game. However, Wentz clarified on Thursday that as excited as he is about the birth of his second child, he won't be missing the game against the Jaguars.
"If it comes down to the game, I told my wife 'I'm playing, and then I'll come see you at the hospital afterwards,'" Wentz said. "She knew that. She's been great. … I think God will time it up the way it's supposed to be timed."

The good news for the Wentz family is that the Colts are playing at home in Indianapolis on Sunday. So, if Madison does go into labor just before, during or just after the game, Carson will be able to join her in the hospital shortly after the contest.
Wentz's teammates expressed appreciation that he is willing to potentially miss the birth of his second child to play against the Jaguars instead of leaving the team in the lurch, uncertain about who their quarterback may be.
"It just shows the type of mentality that Carson has," defensive tackle DeForest Buckner said. "It's all about the team, he's going to do whatever it takes to be out there Sunday."

Had Wentz been unable to play against Jacksonville, rookie Sam Ehlinger would have started for the team. Veteran Brett Hundley would be elevated from the practice squad to serve as a backup.
But certainly, the Colts prefer to start Wentz, who has completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 2,198 yards, 17 touchdowns and just three interceptions this season.
