With the 2024 NFL season rapidly approaching, one NFL analyst recently made a bold trade prediction that involves the Tennessee Titans sending one of their best players to the Cleveland Browns.
In an article that suggests multiple bold trade predictions, Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine sends Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Browns. He doesn't mention what the compensation would be, though.
Ballentine believes the Browns' recent restructuring of quarterback Deshaun Watson suggests they might be in the market to make a big trade at some point. He also thinks the Titans might be willing to part ways with Hopkins because he's in the final year of his deal and Tennessee is in the midst of a rebuild.
The problem with this idea is that the Titans aren't in the midst of a traditional rebuild and instead have turned their roster over and put themselves in position to compete right away.
Hopkins is a key piece of the Titans' offense, as he served as quarterback Will Levis' No. 1 option in 2023, playing a key role in the young signal-caller's development. Barring a disastrous season, Hopkins, who has made it clear he wants to stay in Nashville beyond 2024, isn't likely to be dealt.
Of course, this trade would make more sense for Cleveland, as they could use another option for Watson, and Hopkins is a logical option because of his experience playing with Watson when the two were together with the Houston Texans.
It's certainly not impossible for this trade to happen, but the Titans will have to fall flat on their face to deal Hopkins at the deadline. There is too much talent on this roster for that to happen.
