Myles Garrett is coming off an impressive season in 2018, but it's one that won't be good enough for him in 2019.

The Browns' third-year defensive end hopes to be the best defensive player in the league at some point in his career and doesn't see why he can't start sooner rather than later as Cleveland begins to finally find its rhythm, especially after the departure of former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

"I hopefully have more freedom to be the player I want to be," Garrett said, via Cleveland.com. "Gregg was more like: 'You win with these two moves. I don't want to see anything else out of you.' It's kind of hard with two moves. I feel like you can't always be so predictable."

Garrett says a bigger arsenal of moves should help him ramp up his game, making it more difficult for offenses to read him.

"You can be as strong or fast as you want, but speed chop and power move aren't always going to work," Garrett said. "You have to mix up what you're doing. Sometimes you have to stutter step, sometimes you have to spin inside, you have to run some games. You have to have some freedom to throw different looks at them, and we didn't always have that."

Garrett, 23, was selected first overall by Cleveland in 2017. He played all 16 regular-season games for the first time last season and finished seventh in the NFL with 13.5 sacks, which earned him a Pro Bowl selection and nearly doubled his output from his rookie year (seven sacks).

Still, he fell a half-sack short of the tying Reggie Camp’s single-season team record of 14, set in 1984 (sacks became an official stat in 1982).

He'll report to Browns training camp next week after participating in another camp with former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.

The Browns are scheduled to open camp July 24.
