Johnny Manziel received a belated birthday present Tuesday when he was re-named the Browns' starting quarterback.

Manziel turned 23 on Sunday and watched Cleveland manage to score three points in a loss to the Bengals. Replacement quarterback Austin Davis completed 25 of 38 passes for 230 yards and no touchdowns with an interception.

NFL Media reported Sunday that the Browns would likely return to Manziel, and not everyone in the front office was on board with coach Mike Pettine's decision.

Manziel was benched after a video of him partying during the team's bye week surfaced. Manziel reportedly lied about when the video was taken.

The Browns became the first team eliminated from the playoffs with their loss Sunday, so Manziel isn't being brought back to inspire a postseason run. Cleveland likely wants to see what its 2014 first-round quarterback can do on the field and worry about his off-field antics later.

Manziel will face the 49ers in his return to the lineup.
