Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders enjoys catching passes from Joe Flacco.
Denver acquired the 34-year-old quarterback in a March trade with the Ravens and Sanders was asked about playing with Flacco at a press conference earlier this week.
Sanders said Flacco is comparable to former Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning in at least one category.
“Flacco’s a baller," Sanders told reporters Monday. He’s a baller, probably one of my favorite quarterbacks of all-time. Him and Peyton, they’re close, neck and neck. I’m looking forward to going out on Sundays and competing with him week-in-and-week-out because I know what type of guy he is. I know the type of energy he’s going to bring and I know he’s going to be consistent with his personality because I just know it just hanging out with him.
"I’m looking forward to just going out and trying to showcase our talents together and hopefully we can be one of those duos and put up a lot of points and win a lot of games.”
The Ravens originally selected Flacco out of Delaware with the No. 18 pick in the 2008 draft and he led the team to a win in Super Bowl 47. But, he was replaced by then-rookie Lamar Jackson as Baltimore’s starter in 2018, making him expendable this offseason.
"I feel like I’ve got a lot left in the tank," Flacco said at a July press conference. "I feel like I can do a lot more than what I’ve shown over the course of my 11-year career, so I’m excited that I’m going to have the opportunity here to do that.”
Sanders, meanwhile, has hauled in 37 touchdown passes and made two Pro Bowls during his nine NFL seasons with the Broncos and Steelers.
The Broncos will open the regular season Monday against the Raiders.
