The Seattle Seahawks cut ties with defensive back Brandon Browner on Monday, ending hopes of a "Legion of Boom" reunion.
Browner, 32, had rejoined the Seahawks this offseason after spending 2015 with the Saints. New Orleans released him after a season of injuries and penalties in an attempt to ease their salary cap burden. The Seahawks were trying to move the 2011 Pro Bowler from cornerback to safety.
After winning a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots in 2014, Browner was coveted as one of the best cover corners in the NFL. But he has failed to live up to expectations since then.
Browner was one of the original members of the Seahawks' vaunted "Legion of Boom" secondary that helped Seattle win the Super Bowl to cap the 2013 season.

Browner signed a one-year deal worth $760,000 in April, but did not include any guaranteed money. One reason he became expendable was the emergence of rookie safety Tyvis Powell, undrafted out of Ohio State.
It remains to be seen if another team will take a chance on him this season.
