The Brandon Aiyuk trade/extension saga continues to drag on as the 2024 regular season approaches and there appears to be no end in sight.
The San Francisco 49ers are hoping to keep Aiyuk with an extension, but the two sides apparently stink at getting a deal done. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers are in wait-and-see mode as they reportedly have had a trade in place with San Fran, as well as a contract offer for Aiyuk, but the Niners won't budge.
Then, there's the Washington Commanders, who may be waiting in the shadows, ready to pounce, according to the San Francisco Chronicles's Michael Silver.
If you're frustrated with the constant back and forth and with the overall amount of time this is taking, you most definitely are not alone. Niners and Steelers fans feel the same way, and poor Commanders fans are now being roped back in.
Making matters worse, NFL Insiders provide daily non-updates posed as real updates. The term "standstill" is the theme of the Aiyuk-49ers contract situation, and "wait and see" is the new "pole position" for Steelers fans.
If you are one of those fans who enjoy the daily non-updates, you're in the right place. We're keeping track of those (and we hate ourselves for it) and the latest rumors below.
Brandon Aiyuk rumors, updates
Update: General manager John Lynch said he expects Aiyuk to practice on Wednesday, but as of this writing there is no sign of him on the practice field. Lynch also sounded a bit frustrated when talking about Aiyuk.

SF is still the team that will ultimately make the call if any Aiyuk trade happens, & PIT hasn't upped their offer for weeks & is still in 'wait-and-see' mode'.
TO BE CLEAR: not reporting anything is done; just that PIT likes where they sit.#HereWeGo https://t.co/6YfwmKEihp
