The Seahawks defensive line hasn't been the same since the Michael Bennett trade. However, the arrival of new head coach Mike Macdonald has inspired hope that Seattle's front line may soon once again be one of the most ferocious in the league. Macdonald's schematic genius will help, but they also have one of the most-talented interior units in the league (ESPN analyst Mike Clay ranked this group No. 2 in the NFL).
The centerpiece here is veteran Leonard Williams, who just signed a three-year, $60+ million deal to stay in Seattle after getting traded from the Giants mid-season. The next most-important piece in the treasure chest is the team's first-round pick in this year's draft, former Texans DL Byron Murphy II, considered by many analysts the top defensive prospect in the class of 2024.
Murphy will have to prove that come September, but so far there's been nothing but glowing reviews about his performance this offseason. Here's what third-year outside linebacker Boye Mafe had to say about Murphy's game on Chris Long's podcast.
