Vikings' Blair Walsh growing tired of reporters who ask about missed kicks every week image

Vikings kicker Blair Walsh is tired of missing field-goal attempts, and he's tired of being asked about it.

After Sunday's 22-16 home overtime loss to the Lions, in which Walsh missed an extra point and had a field goal blocked, he vented about what went wrong.

“They just did not go in,” Walsh told reporters. “You watched it.

“I probably did not hit it well enough. I mean you can never know until you watch film, but I probably did not hit it well enough, and did not get over the line, so that is my fault and I need to come through for my team there.”

When pressed about his continued issues in the kicking game, Walsh said he wasn't annoyed, despite his fourth missed field-goal attempt and third missed extra point of the season.

“It is not that I am frustrated, but you guys have to understand, what do you want the answer to be?” Walsh said. “I want to be there for my team, of course I do, but come on, you ask the same question every week. 'Did it feel good?' 'Did I make it?' No, I didn't. 'Do I have to?' Yes. 'Do I want to?' Yes. I mean, if you've got something else, please. Seriously."

Walsh's struggles date to last season when he missed four missed extra points and five field goals, not to mention a 27-yard field goal miss that cost the Vikings a victory in last season's wild-card game vs. Seattle.

His struggles continue to go unanswered and could result in the Vikings making a change.

"I don't know. We'll see," Head coach Mike Zimmer said when asked whether he'll consider replacing Walsh. "I'm not going to make any evaluations right now. Today's not the day to be making any evaluations."
