Injury problems and age led the Buffalo Bills to drop a former first-round draft pick.
The team cut defensive back Leodis McKelvin, it announced on Friday.

The 30-year-old played in just nine games last year due to a lingering ankle injury he sustained during the 2014 season. Overall, he appeared in just 19 games over the last two years.
The move frees up $3.9 million in cap room, which gives the Bills about $13 million total in cap space.
The Bills feel they have an emerging corner in former Florida State standout Ronald Darby, who picked off two passes last season.
Selected 11th overall in 2008, McKelvin had his best year in 2013 when he recorded 72 combined tackles. In his career as a Bill, he intercepted the ball 13 times.
McKelvin isn't the first player the Bills have parted ways with this week. The team also released defensive end Mario Williams, running back Boobie Dixon and offensive lineman Kraig Urbik.
