Best NFL Prop Bets Week 8: Breece Hall, Terry McLaurin, Travis Kelce highlight our experts' picks image

Halloween weekend is upon us, and fans and bettors are in for a treat with zero teams on bye. Week 8 features some solid matchups as well as a plethora of value betting opportunities on the SuperDraft player prop market. Spare yourself a spooky Sunday and follow the advice of our SN Betting analysts with our Week 8 expert player prop picks.

The name of the game with prop betting — just like traditional betting, fantasy, and DFS — is value. Every Friday, my colleagues Vinnie Iyer, Nick Musial, Nick Brinkerhoff, and I scour SuperDraft to find you the over/under props that yield the most value and give you the greatest chance of winning.

My colleagues and I then unveil a dozen or so of our favorite SuperDraft player props from the NFL's Sunday slate. The concept for this column is simple: all four of us pick our three favorite over/under bets. We research the matchups, dive into the betting trends, and handpick the props that we deem to be solid value bets. Then we write out our reasoning behind picking each prop.

Along the way, we keep a weekly record of each of our successes and failures, and of course, reveal our updated season standings. Our motivations are two-fold: (1) beat our colleagues, and (2) help you beat the book. The more we win, the more money our readers make!

MORE SUPERDRAFT DFS & FANTASY PROPS: How to play SuperDraft

Our betting team went an awesome 7-3 last week and we're ready to take that momentum into Week 8's full slate. Take a look at the updated standings after Week 7 of our SN Bets SuperDraft Prop Contest:

Expert Week 7 Overall
Sloan Piva 2-1 15-7
Vinnie Iyer 2-1 10-11
Nick Musial 1-0 9-10
Nick Brinkerhoff 2-1 7-14

Vinnie and I had strong 2-1 weeks, while Muse's crap luck continued with Bijan Robinson getting one touch before leaving with a stomachache and DK Metcalf being a late scratch. At least Nick hit the one that stood, a Jahan Dotson receiving yards over! Brinks missed Luke Musgrave's receiving yards over by 3.5 yards after the Packers' tight end exited with an injury — just brutal. He more than made up for it with his other two picks, going a combined 190.5 yards over the receiving yards totals of Travis Kelce and Josh Palmer. Boo-yeah!

One thing's for certain: our panel of experts is much better than our overall record suggests. So, let's lock in some winners and keep moving in the right direction. If you're not familiar with SuperDraft, check it out! SD's Fantasy Props feature allows users to win 3X the amount wagered if their two-legged player prop parlay hits. The more legs added to the player prop parlay, the larger the potential payout becomes. But as you could probably guess, the longer the odds, the more difficult it gets to nail down a clean sweep. Research is imperative.

That's where we come in. Our panel of experts does the leg work, pitches our favorite props, and lets you do the rest. You can window-shop our recommendations as you please and bet as few or as many of our prop picks as you see fit. Our lucky number with player prop parlays seems to be two (3X payout), but sometimes we'll put a lower stake on a three-prop parlay (6X) or a lotto-ticket wager on an eight-legger (100X).

Let's get to it. Below we will detail our 12 favorite SuperDraft player props for this weekend's NFL games, with our highest-confidence picks listed first. Good luck, enjoy Week 8, and have a safe and happy Halloween!

NFL Prop Picks Week 8: Our experts' favorite SuperDraft bets

Breece Hall, RB, Jets at Giants — OVER 68.5 rushing yards (Sloan Piva)

Ever since I traded Breece Lightning to Brinks in our SN Fantasy Expert league, the Jets rookie has been on a rampage. In games in which he sees double-digit carries, Hall has averaged 124.3 rushing yards. In just Gang Green's past two games, he has accumulated 287 all-purpose yards and two TDs. The Giants have surrendered 857 rushing yards to RBs this season, second-most in the NFL. Smash the OVER.

MORE WEEK 8 BETTING: ATS | Moneyline

Terry McLaurin, WR, Commanders vs. Eagles — OVER 57.5 receiving yards (Vinnie Iyer)

Sam Howell has been under siege as the most-sacked QB in the NFL. The Eagles’ defense is starting to perform better overall but continues to show its age at cornerback. McLaurin has a great history of production against Philly and the NFC East at large. He’s also been getting true No. 1 treatment in terms of targets, with 20 combined looks over the past two weeks. He had 10 targets when these teams met earlier this season, catching 8 for 86 yards. In nine career matchups against the Eagles, McLaurin has averaged eight targets, six catches, and 87 yards per game.

Garrett Wilson, WR, Jets @ Giants — OVER 60.5 receiving yards (Nick Brinkerhoff)

The Snoopy Bowl gets us started in Week 8 as the Jets battle their MetLife Stadium roommates, the Giants. And while those post-bye week games can be scary to bet on, we’re trusting that Wilson didn’t eat too many Butterfingers ahead of this contest. These two teams like to downplay their rivalry, but you wouldn’t know it based on how they treated a meaningless preseason game.

Wilson the wideout has been targeted by QB Zach Wilson 32 times over the Jets last three games. Factor in that he’s playing against a Giants secondary that allows 123.7 yards per game to opposing WR1s over their past three, and you have a recipe for success. Wilson has also matched up with rookie cornerback Deonte Banks once before. That meeting came in college, when Wilson torched him for 82 yards and a TD on four catches.

Ohio State knocked off Maryland 73-14 on that November day in 2019. Banks has reportedly waited four years to avenge that game — but unless he’s dressing up as Captain America, we don’t see it. Trust Wilson to re-introduce himself to Banks in style as Gang Green’s offense gives us an early treat to start the Sunday slate.

DeVonta Smith, WR, Eagles @ Commanders — OVER 49.5 receiving yards (Nick Musial)

With the Eagles' aerial attack hitting its stride following Jalen Hurts' 279-yard, two-TD effort in Philadelphia's 31-17 win over the Dolphins last week, we expect another strong performance from the Eagles' passing game on Sunday. Against a Commanders coverage unit that ranks 27th in dropback EPA (0.118) and allowed Philly to post a respectable 50 percent passing success rate in their Week 4 meeting (68th percentile), the Eagles No. 2 wideout's in line to reach 50-plus receiving yards. Smith had seven catches for 78 yards in Week 4, and a similar stat line is attainable this go-around.

Dameon Pierce, Texans at Panthers — OVER 53.5 rushing yards (Piva)

Many have speculated that Houston could be moving toward a 50-50 backfield split with Pierce and Devin Singletary, but for now we think Pierce will remain as the Texans' RB1. Carolina's run D has been very generous, allowing an average of 134.3 ground yards per game to RBs (2nd-most in the NFL). Fire up Pierce and watch him get fierce.

Calvin Ridley, WR, Jaguars @ Steelers  — OVER 51.5 receiving yards (Iyer)

Ridley disappeared against the Saints due to a combination of zone coverage and Marshon Lattimore keeping him from being involved. The Jaguars also controlled the game with a solid rushing attack, strong defense, and Christian Kirk. The Steelers matchup is made for Ridley to make big plays toward a big day on the outside, as he’s likely to draw rookie Joey Porter Jr. in coverage. After a Week 7 with limited usage in New Orleans, Ridley will be a bit of a squeaky wheel for Trevor Lawrence against more single-coverage looks. This is a rare chance for both him and Kirk to go off downfield with no Zay Jones in the lineup again.

Nico Collins, WR, Texans vs. Panthers — OVER 56.5 receiving yards (Brinkerhoff)

Collins is part of a Texans offense that has treated us to some fun football thus far in 2023. The former Michigan Wolverine has played a big role in that, developing into C.J. Stroud’s top receiver and crushing this line in 4-of-6 with at least 80 yards in all of them. Facing a banged-up Panthers secondary surely helps our cause, especially for someone that’s helped upgrade our budget from a white bedsheet ghost costume all the way to Spirit Halloween’s top-of-the-line offerings. And with October’s “Spooky Season” soon giving way to No-Shave November, it only makes sense to stand in solidarity with a Wolverine — since many of us will be looking like one by the time December rolls around.

Nico Collins, WR, Texans vs. Panthers — OVER 56.5 receiving yards (Musial)

(EDITOR'S NOTE: The double-Nick endorsement!)

Collins’ fellow wideout, Robert Woods, is trending towards missing Sunday’s road tilt in Carolina, putting Collins in a favorable spot to hit his OVER of 56.5 receiving yards. The Panthers' pass defense remains one of the least efficient units on a down-to-down basis, ranking 27th in passing success rate (48.7%), and C.J. Stroud and company appear to have little trouble moving the ball through the air. Collins, who’s been one of the most efficient WRs this season relative to his expected points added (+43.7 EPA; fifth), could see close to 10-plus targets, strong enough volume to easily eclipse 56 yards.

Travis Kelce, TE, Chiefs at Broncos — OVER 76.5 receiving yards (Piva)

National Tight End Day might be over, but Kelce's fun should continue after he netted 179 receiving yards and a TD last week. Denver has surrendered the most receiving yards to tight ends this season, so this matchup looks like a match made in heaven like Kelswift. Hammer this over like the NFL hammers celebrity Taylor Swift into Chiefs games.

Garrett Wilson, WR, Jets @ Giants — OVER 60.5 receiving yards (Iyer)

The Giants’ pass coverage has started to crumble against No. 1 wide receivers of late. In the past three games, Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs and McLaurin have all reached 90 or more receiving yards. Coming off a bye, the Jets will have found ways to better connect Wilson with Zach Wilson downfield. Garrett Wilson is still dominating targets and will get a chance to dust two shaky corners, veteran Adoree’ Jackson and rookie Deonte Banks. Lock in Wilson hitting his first century receiving mark of 2023 after he just missed a hundo vs. the Eagles.

Christian Kirk, WR, Jaguars @ Steelers — OVER 54.5 receiving yards (Brinkerhoff)

Kirk delivered a dud in Week 1, the NFL equivalent of getting a toothbrush from the dentist’s house instead of something like a Reese’s (the best candy on the market). But ever since then, Kirk has been cashing tickets left and right, from local and abroad on our road to 100 Grand. As it turns out, that study abroad trip helped kickstart the Jags after a tough few weeks to open the year. Since leaving for London, those Jag-you-ares have won four in a row and Kirk’s reemergence atop the team’s receiving depth chart has been a big reason why.

Kirk has gone over this number in 4-of-6 games, missing a fifth by half a yard. This week, he draws a reeling Steelers secondary that just allowed Puka Nacua to start getting fitted for a gold jacket last week. For a defense that relies mostly on T.J. Watt for its success, we trust that our faith in Kirk won’t come back to haunt us, sending us to the grocery store for all the 50-percent off bags of treats like a Halloween dream.

CeeDee Lamb, WR, Cowboys vs. Rams — OVER 67.5 receiving yards (Musial)

The Cowboys made it a point to get the ball in Lamb’s hands during their Week 6 road win in Los Angeles, with the young wideout catching all seven of his targets for 117 yards. Expect another high-usage day for the Cowboys’ WR1 against a subpar Los Angeles secondary. We wouldn’t be surprised if Lamb reaches the century mark for a second straight contest.
