Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger shut down a report by CBS that said he'd be back by October 25 during a radio appearance Tuesday on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh.
“That does not come from me or our doctors," he said of the report. "I just left Dr. Bradley and he said, ‘Where do these reports come from that you’re coming back at a certain week?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know, Doc. I haven’t really heard any of them.’ So, I assume that’s exactly what he was talking about. We know that people like to just speculate and say things. So, that did not come from me, the Steelers or any of our doctors, more importantly.”

He went on to talk about how Steelers doctors are evaluating his injury. Basically, he's ruled out this week and they will take it on a week-by-week basis. They'll evaluate his progress to see if he's ready to play, and if not, he doesn't play.
Roethlisberger also discussed how he's dealing with his sprained MCL and bone bruise.
“There’s still quite a bit of pain from the bone bruise,” he said. “The MCL isn’t super painful. I feel it when I walk at times, but the problem is if I walk without a brace … when you kick your leg forward as if you’re just walking, it feels like your leg is just kind of flopping.”
You won't get an exact return date from Big Ben in the near future, but he seems optimistic about how things are going. He said his doctor "was really pleased with the way things are coming."
In the meantime, Mike Vick will continue to quarterback the Steelers.
