At least 3-Tech Grady Jarrett looked healthy Sunday returning from injury (knee), because QB Kirk Cousins sure didn’t (Achilles on back foot).
3 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 TFLs, & 3 quarterback hits in his first game back off a season-ending knee injury takes the Week 1 Player of the Game for the 10-year Atlanta Falcons vet after a brutal 18-10 Loss. Capitalize the “L.”
Does it feel nasty writing a player of the game after that tough loss? Yes, yes it does, thanks for asking. Onward.
Beyond the stat sheet, seeing Jarrett take on two blockers repeatedly as if he were a nose tackle is marvelous play strength, particularly in recovery.

CB2 Mike Hughes and his 7 tackles & 3 TFLs contended, along with RB1 Bijan Robinson’s proof of volume - one of the afternoon’s few Falcons bright spots. 23 touches for 111 yards (4.8 avg) from Bijan Robinson battled as well today. Ultimately, Clark Phillips III’s replacement of Hughes and the offense’s struggles in general tip to the veteran defender.
Jarrett’s team leadership is going to be vital for a vigorous Eagles matchup on the road. It can’t be the same ****, different year.

Grady Jarrett understandably frustrated after today's loss to the Ravens which, combined with the Panthers win against the Lions, eliminated the #Falcons from postseason contention. pic.twitter.com/jn4gQ30myS
